Mateo Hurtado Castillo was born on June 22, 2009, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, and began studying piano and music with his parents at an early age.

He has received distinctions in numerous competitions, including the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition (Germany), the Odin International Music Competition (Ireland), the Progressive Musicians Classics Competition (USA), the Concurso Iberoamericano América para Todos (Mexico), the Franz Liszt International Competition (Spain), the International Mozart Piano Competition (Croatia), the Sergei Rachmaninoff International Piano Competition (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and the Best Chopin Performance International Music Competition (England).

He made his debut at Mexico's Palace of Fine Arts (Palacio de Bellas Artes) at the age of 15. In 2026, the Government of Mexico selected him to receive a scholarship that will enable him to embark on a concert tour across various cities throughout the country.
